Paam Laafi Mobile Clinics for Children

One of the three pillars of the Paam Laafi 'Health for All' program are the Mobile Clinics to the primary schools in Burkina Faso.

In October 2008, a team of Paam Laafi doctors set out to the village of Sakoula for their first Mobile Medical Clinic at the public primary school. During the ten-day clinic they found out that more than half of the children were suffering of one or more very treatable diseases.

Since then, Paam Laafi has been treating over 18.000 primary school children, with an average of about 3.000 children yearly.

Many volunteers join in to walk the children through all the stations of a medical clinic, helping the children by weighing and measering them, do a basic eye test, etc... and get them to the doctor. After a complete consultation and physical exam, every child receives the necessary care for wounds and cleaning of ears. Our mobile pharmacy allows us to provide the necessary medicine and each child receives a tooth brush and paste with clear instructions how to use it and how to take the medicine.

Over the years both Go to Nations and the International School of Ouagadougou have been great partners in this endeavor.
