Asaren and Swiss Malaria Foundation
The Moret family has been a partner since the beginning of our presence in Burkina Faso. This family has worked in Burkina Faso since the '70 and has been active in Prison Ministry and Technological Support of various medical centers. Recently, and in collaboration with Asaren, Switserland, the building of the Maintenance/Applied Technology Training Center has started on the Paam Laafi Association Campus. Asaren has helped us with the truck enabling us to create a mobile radiology unit which allows them to do regular medical visits in their Prison Ministry program. Through his multiple contacts, Remy Moret has heen very helpful in the setting-up phase of our medical laboratory.
The Maintenance/Applied Technology Training Center will allow us to have state of the art maintenance right on campus plus the possibility of having useful and effecient applied technology such as solar energy applications.
It is our wish that young people with an interest in technology will find Paam Laafi a good place to get training.
The Maintenance/Workshop area consist of 4 containers separated with a concrete floor of about 8 m in between and a roof overhead. Two of the containers are used as storage space for the hospital campus, one for building materials and one for hospital beds and other medical equipment and furniture. The spaces in between the containers will be organized as workshops. The middle one e.g. functions as a mechanical workshop to revise cars and other mechanical equipment. We have machines to produce metal replacement pieces. There is also a wood working unit and garage space for our ambulance and mobile radiology truck.
